On the evening of September 1, at Nguyen Phi Y Lan Lake in Kinh Bac Ward, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk singing program on the boat themed “Songs to Uncle Ho” to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), while contributing to preparations for the establishment of Bac Ninh as a centrally governed city.

The 90-minute program combined theatrical performances with Quan Ho singing on the boat, offering local residents and visitors an emotional evening of music imbued with the distinctive cultural identity of Kinh Bac.
The first part, themed “Songs to Uncle Ho,” featured performances praising President Ho Chi Minh, the homeland and the country, including “Night Listening to Ferry Songs, Remembering Uncle Ho,” “Vietnam Star – Ho Chi Minh Star,” “On the Road to Victory,” and a medley of songs. The performances helped evoke deep affection for Uncle Ho, national pride and love for the homeland.

The highlight of the program was the Quan Ho singing performance on the boat, themed “Four Seasons of Joy.” Against the shimmering backdrop of the lake, five dragon boats carried male and female Quan Ho singers performing traditional melodies and newly composed lyrics, including “Four Seasons of Joy,” “One Cinnamon, Two Orchids,” “The Golden Bird,” “Sewing a Needle,” “Afternoon on the Thuong River,” and “Golden Bell Guarding the Three-Gate Entrance.” The performances created an artistic space that was deeply rooted in tradition while full of vitality.

The program contributed to honoring Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk singing – a UNESCO-recognized Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity – while promoting traditional cultural values and fostering pride in and awareness of heritage preservation among the community. It left a lasting impression on local residents and visitors alike./.
