To leverage these strengths, the province is focusing resources on building industrial park infrastructure to attract investment.Building technical infrastructure for industrial parksAt the Industrial Park No. 3 construction site, workers are rushing to complete the technical infrastructure. Nguyen Cong Hong, General Director of TDH Ecoland, said, “To overcome difficulties, Hung Yen established a steering committee for site clearance of key projects, making this process smoother. Within a short time, all 160 hectares of Industrial Park No. 3 was handed over to the investor.”Immediately after the land was cleared, TDH Ecoland and its partners focused on building technical infrastructure. In less than a year, Industrial Park No. 3 has essentially completed its technical infrastructure and begun operations. With its advantageous location adjacent to the Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway, and particularly the policy of one-time land rental payments, it has drawn many FDI investment projects.Hung Yen Province occupies a strategic position in the Northern Key Economic Region, bordering Hanoi, with convenient transport infrastructure, including the Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway, National Highways 5, 38, 39, and Hanoi’s Ring Road 4, connecting to seaports, airports and major northern urban centres. To capitalise on these advantages and create breakthrough economic development, the province has consistently focused on industrial park infrastructure development to attract investment.Vu Quoc Nghi, Head of the Hung Yen Industrial Parks Management Board, shared that to create favourable conditions for industrial park infrastructure construction, since 2021, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Board issued a directive on site clearance for infrastructure projects and a decision on establishing a steering committee for key projects during the 2021-2025 period, led by the Provincial Party Secretary. The province has mobilised the entire political system to persuade residents to agree to hand over land for socio-economic development projects.The steering committee for key projects meets monthly to review site clearance progress and issues directives to promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles. Consequently, between 2021 and 2024, the province cleared nearly 1,300 hectares of land for industrial park infrastructure development, almost triple the total area from 2015 to 2020.Industrial park developers have accelerated construction and invested in comprehensive technical infrastructure. In 2024, approximately 620 hectares of land were developed, nearly double from 2023, which brings the total area of industrial parks with technical infrastructure to about 2,500 hectares, representing 89% of the total area, with approximately 540 hectares remaining available for lease. Many industrial parks have become operational and attracted investment, notably the Thang Long II Industrial Park expansion, Industrial Park No. 3, Industrial Park No. 5, and the Clean Industrial Park.Integrated industrial park infrastructure has facilitated effective investment attraction. In 2024, Hung Yen Province received 86 projects, a 33% increase from 2023, with a total registered capital of 772 million USD and 11.6 trillion VND.The industrial parks have attracted many large high-tech projects. Notable examples include Nitto Vietnam’s 132 million USD project to manufacture LCD polarising films for smartphones and automobiles, Molex Vietnam’s 128 million USD project to produce optical cables and high-speed connection cables, and Arizon Vietnam’s 67.5 million USD project manufacturing RFID labels.Creating momentum for breakthrough growthAccording to the Prime Minister’s decision on industrial park development planning to 2030 with a vision for 2050, Hung Yen Province will have 35 industrial parks with a total area exceeding 12,000 hectares. Currently, the province has 12 industrial parks covering more than 3,123 hectares. Of these, 10 industrial parks (approximately 2,773 hectares) are operational and accepting secondary investment projects.Hung Yen Party Secretary Nguyen Huu Nghia shared that 2024 was a record year for the province’s investment attraction, with 180 projects totalling over 61 trillion VND and more than 1.5 billion USD. To date, the province has 2,371 active projects (1,755 domestic and 616 foreign) with total registered capital exceeding 370 trillion VND and over 8.5 billion USD.This achievement is significantly owed to the industrial parks’ contribution to attracting investment and helping drive high and stable economic growth for the province. In 2024, the province’s economy grew by 7.7% to 159.8 trillion VND and GDP per capita reached 121.3 million VND, up 8.8 million VND compared to 2023.To achieve breakthrough development strategic goals, Nghia stated that the province is determined to pursue a new growth model based on pillars, including the enabling role of government, focusing on promoting strong digital transformation, continuously improving institutions, investment environment, business climate and competitiveness, and strengthening the leading role of public investment.Simultaneously, the province will establish an ecosystem for clean, high-tech industrial development with selective new investment attraction policies that prioritise scale, modern technology, and environmental protection.Hung Yen is also accelerating urbanisation, developing large, smart, ecological urban areas linked with modern trade and services development, improving provincial competitiveness, and creating favourable conditions for businesses and investors to have equal access to information, business opportunities, investment and land.Hung Yen leaders regularly maintain contact and dialogue with businesses to promptly identify and address difficulties and obstacles facing them, strengthen investment and trade promotion activities, promote potential and business opportunities, and build the province’s brand and image domestically and internationally.In the coming period, the province will focus on reviewing and updating land use plans for industrial parks to be developed according to the master plan and adding newly established industrial parks to the list of provincial key projects.Provincial functional agencies have been directed to accelerate compensation, site clearance and land handover to industrial park investors for technical infrastructure construction and project reception.They are also increasing the implementation pace of approved industrial park infrastructure investment projects, striving to have approximately 2,000 hectares of cleared land ready for lease by the end of 2025.The province aims to have 30 industrial parks (9,588 hectares) by 2030 and 35 (over 12,000 hectares) by 2050, transforming Hung Yen into one of Vietnam’s strongest industrially developed provinces.

In 2024, Hung Yen Province attracted a record of nearly 4 billion USD in domestic and foreign investment, significantly contributing to the province’s industrial development efforts. The province aims for economic growth targets of 8% or higher in 2025 and beyond.

ShopeeFood came behind with 47 percent of the market share. Together, the two leading players are holding 96 percent of Viet Nam's food delivery market.The remaining share belongs to BeFood (4 percent) and Gojek (1 percent). However, Gojek officially pulled out of the Vietnamese market in September 2024.The report pointed out that after two years of subdued 5 percent growth, Southeast Asia's food delivery sector rebounded in 2024 with a 13 percent on-year increase, reaching a total GMV of US$19.3 billion./.

High-ranking German leaders have visited Vietnam in recent years, notably the visits of Chancellor Olaf Scholz in 2022 and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in 2024.In 2025, Vietnam and Germany will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, an important milestone to consolidate and promote cooperation in the future. A series of rich cultural events, sports activities, as well as job fairs and innovation festivals will be held to highlight the success and diversity of the Vietnam-Germany relationship. Meanwhile, income per capita of Ha Noi and HCMC were reported at US$5,900 and US$6,700 , respectively.The two cities have identified the goal of developing an urban railway system to meet public transport demands, contributing to the restructuring of urban transport modes in a sustainable, harmonious and reasonable manner.By 2035, both cities target to basically finalize the urban railway networks following Conclusion No. 49-KL/TW of the Politburo and approved plans.The two metropolis strive to put into operation 17 urban railway routes and sections with a total length of about 752km by 2035, taking on 35-50 percent of the public passenger transport market share.By 2045, seven more routes and four sections with a total length of about 355km are expected to be put into operation, making up 50-60 percent of the public passenger transport market share.Six groups of specific mechanismsFunding for those projects is estimated at over VND3 quadrillion including more than VND424.8 trillion from the State budget and the remaining from the cities' budget.The transport ministry proposed six groups of specific mechanisms and policies including those on capital mobilization, investment procedures, Transit Oriented Development model, railway industry development, technology transfer and training.Many flexible mechanisms have been proposed to help the two cities proactively mobilize capital from additional revenue sources, save costs, and ODA capital without having to prepare project proposals./.

A key feature is the autonomy granted to scientific research organisations, giving them greater independence in organisational structure, staffing, finance, and professional decisions. It also includes provisions on civil liability exemption for potential losses in state-funded research projects as well as regulations on state capital allocation to science-tech missions through funds.Presenting a verification report, Chairman of the NA’s Committee on Science, Technology and Environment Le Quang Huy endorsed the issuance of the resolution, noting it will help accelerate growth targets of at least 8% by 2025 and double-digit growth for the 2026-2030 period.Full-time legislators reached consensus on submitting the resolution to the parliament to remove roadblocks in the sector and creative motives for national socio-economic development, contributing to concreatising the target for 2025 and subsequent years. They stressed the importance of careful review to prevent potential group interests, wastefulness, and other negative practices.Speaking at the event, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man commended the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information and Communications, and the NA’s Committee on Science, Technology and Environment for their swift preparation of the draft resolution.He specifically called for policies that could unlock resources and create immediate effects, contributing to the economic growth./.

The first vehicles are expected to roll off the production line by early 2026.Under their cooperation agreement, the two companies will establish a joint venture for automobile assembly and distribution in Vietnam. The factory, covering 30 hectares, will have an initial production capacity of 75,000 vehicles per year. The project has a total investment of 168 million USD, with Tasco holding a 64% stake and Geely Auto 36%.As part of the partnership, Tasco Auto, a subsidiary of Tasco, will become the official distributor of Geely vehicles in Vietnam. The first model to be introduced to the market will be the Geely Coolray, a compact SUV that has already gained popularity in the Philippines and Russia.Beyond manufacturing and distribution, Geely and Tasco also plan to invest in local supply chains, R&amp;D centres, and workforce training programmes to support the long-term development of Vietnam’s automotive industry.Meanwhile, Chinese automaker Chery’s subsidiary, Omoda &amp; Jaecoo, has partnered with Vietnamese conglomerate Geleximco to establish a manufacturing plant in Hung Phu Industrial Zone of Thai Binh province.The 800-million-USD facility is scheduled to begin construction in the second quarter of this year, with the first phase expected to be completed by early 2026. However, this timeframe must not exceed 30 months from the date of land allocation, leasing, or conversion.The Ministry of Planning and Investment is responsible for appraising the investment policy and managing the industrial park per relevant laws on investment and industrial development.The People’s Committee of Bac Giang province is tasked with ensuring the project aligns with the provincial land use and zoning plans for 2021–30, with a vision towards 2050.The plans must be approved by competent authorities under land and planning legislation. China's automotive industry, a giant in rubber consumption, is on track for continued expansion, fueled by robust domestic and export demands.Nguyen Duc Dung, Deputy General Director of the Mercantile Exchange of Vietnam, pointed out that Vietnamese rubber producers are in a prime spot to capitalise on this trend. Not only is there an uptick in demand from China, but also from neighboring Southeast Asian nations, buoyed by a global economic recovery.China remains the largest market for Vietnamese rubber exports. In 2024 alone, the country imported 2.4 billion USD worth of Vietnamese rubber, or 70.5% of Vietnam's total rubber export value, he said.According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the country earned 3.4 billion USD from exporting 2 million tonnes of rubber latex last year, down 6% in volume but up 18% in value. Meanwhile, it spent 3 billion USD on importing 1.9 million tonnes, resulting in a trade surplus of 400 million USD.VRA Chairman Le Thanh Hung said the value increase was a direct result of soaring prices, with the average export price jumping from 1,350 USD to 1,701 USD per tonne in 2024. This price escalation is closely tied to the heightened demand from Europe, which holds a major share of the global rubber trade, accounting for 31-34.5% of exports./.

Key areas of focus include strengthening political and diplomatic ties, enhancing defence and security collaboration, building a shared borderline of peace, stability, cooperation and comprehensive development, fighting activities of hostile forces, and combating transnational crimes.Economic connectivity should also be tightened, with Vietnam further sharing experience in macroeconomic stabilisation, sustainable development and business climate improvement with Laos.They will work to encourage Vietnamese firms to invest in priority sectors of Laos, especially high-tech agriculture, renewable energy, mineral mining, and tourism. Both sides will explore special mechanisms to facilitate Vietnamese businesses' partnerships with foreign companies to carry out investment projects in Laos. More investment and trade promotion conferences should also be held with the participation of large businesses and important partners like Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the EU to attract investment.Phuong recommended joint efforts be made to secure annual growth of about 10 - 15% in bilateral trade turnover.Aside from electricity trading and wind power projects in border areas, education and human resources development remain a priority, he said, noting that the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment will also enhance the efficiency of aid projects to help Laos boost socio-economic development.The official emphasised the need for the countries' Cooperation Committees to work together to oversee aid-funded projects to ensure progress and effective resource allocation.

This is a significant milestone, opening great opportunities for Vietnamese fresh coconuts to conquer the billion-person market. Statistics show that China consumes approximately 4 billion coconuts each year, about 2.6 billion of which are fresh coconuts.While the demand is high, China's production capacity is still limited, creating an ample room for Vietnamese coconuts to penetrate this market deeply. In 2024, fresh coconut exports to China were expected to reach 250 million USD, accounting for 25% of the total export value of the entire coconut industry. Nguyen Phong Phu, Technical Director of Vina T&amp;T Group, stated that China is a populous market with a high demand for coconut products, especially fresh coconuts, coconut water, coconut oil, and processed coconut products.In terms of geographical location, Vietnam has many advantages thanks to its proximity to China, offering reduced transportation costs and time compared to other countries in Southeast Asia or Africa. The free trade agreements between ASEAN and China also create favourable conditions for reducing taxes and boosting trade. Vina T&amp;T Group has exported large quantities of Vietnamese coconuts to markets such as the US, Australia, Canada, etc., and will focus more on the Chinese market in the coming time. In the first eight months of 2024, the US significantly increased its coconut imports from Vietnam, with Vietnam’s market share in the total US coconut import volume rising from 0.76% in the first eight months of 2023 to 8.59% in the same period of 2024.Along with market opening, logistics play a crucial role in quickly bringing Vietnamese coconut products, especially fresh coconuts, to key markets. Dang Dinh Long, Chairman of the Board of Mega A Logistics, said: "In addition to transporting coconuts by road through border gates, sea transport is currently the most economically efficient method."Recently, cold chain systems such as storage facilities and refrigerated containers for exports to the Chinese market have been improved and upgraded. At the same time, logistics companies have worked closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to reduce logistics costs, thus helping to enhance the competitiveness of coconut products. The coconut tree has been identified as a key crop and a source of income for more than 200,000 rural households. To date, the province has 133 coconut farming regions with assigned codes covering 8,391 hectares, and 14 enterprises have been granted packaging facility codes to export fresh coconuts to the Chinese market.Ben Tre has established an organic coconut material area of over 20,781 hectares, which is evenly distributed across the districts of Binh Dai, Giong Trom, Mo Cay Nam, Mo Cay Bac, Thanh Phu, and Ba Tri. The province has formed a value chain closely linked with eight major enterprises, which possess modern technologies for processing and exporting organic coconut products to various markets, including the US, EU Japan, China, Canada, and the Republic of Korea. Every year, coconut exports bring in more than 350 million USD for Ben Tre Province.“The clear direction of competing through quality has led the province to consistently advise production, packaging, and export units to strictly adhere to food safety regulations, quality standards, and plant quarantine procedures as outlined in the protocols and related regulations. Compliance with these rules not only ensures exports to China but also enhances the quality of coconut products, opening opportunities to access other markets around the world,” emphasised Duc.

With an area of nearly 200,000 hectares, Vietnam's coconut industry is becoming one of the key economic sectors in the Central Coastal and Mekong Delta provinces. In 2010, coconut export revenue only reached 180 million USD, but by 2023, it had surpassed 900 million USD. In 2024, the coconut industry is expected to exceed the one-billion-dollar mark, ushering in a period of strong growth.
